DMAA Approves New Board Appointments, Titles

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Disease Management Association of America (DMAA) this week approved new and current Board of Directors members and, with the appointments, established new titles for several key leadership positions.

During a business meeting Dec. 5 at the Disease Management Leadership Forum (DMLF), in Denver, DMAA members approved the appointment of William Popik, MD, as the association's new Chairman. Previously, the top Board position held the title of President. Outgoing President Christobel Selecky, Executive Chairman of LifeMasters Supported SelfCare Inc., will become Immediate Past-Chair.

DMAA also created a new "At Large" Board officer position and appointed current Board member Jack Mahoney, MD, to it. Dr. Mahoney is Corporate Medical Director for Pitney Bowes Inc. Tracey Moorhead, the association's chief staff officer, will change her title from Executive Director to President and Chief Executive Officer.

Other Executive Committee slots announced at the DMLF were:

  • Secretary, Paul Wallace, MD, Executive Director, Care Management Institute, Kaiser Permanente
  • Chair, Government Affairs Committee, Jan Berger, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Caremark Rx Inc.
  • Chair, Quality and Research Committee, Gordon K. Norman, MD, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Alere Medical Inc.

DMAA also approved new Board members for three-year terms, including:

  • Eileen O'Shea Auen, MBA, Chief Executive Officer, APS Healthcare
  • Jeffrey Gruen, MD, President, CARE Division, Revolution Health Group
  • Jeffrey Levin-Scherz, MD, MBA, FACP, Chief Medical Officer, Partners Community HealthCare Inc.
  • Rose Maljanian, RN, MBA, Vice President, Clinical Product Development, Magellan Health Services
  • Emad Rizk, MD, President, McKesson Health Solutions

Board members who filled their maximum terms of service are outgoing Quality and Research Committee Chair Donald Fetterolf, MD, and Government Affairs Committee Chair Sandeep Wadhwa, MD. Dr. Fetterolf will continue in a leadership position as Co-Chair of the DMAA Outcomes Steering Committee, which produced consensus guidelines this for release at this year's DMLF. A second phase of the guidelines project will begin in January.
